Chimney questions.
How often should I have my chimney swept?
Most homes benefit from a sweep and inspection once a year, typically before the cool season. Frequently used wood-burning fireplaces may need it more often.
What does a chimney sweep include?
We remove creosote and soot from the flue, clear blockages, check the damper and cap, and do a visual inspection of the firebox and flue — then clean up the area.
What are signs my chimney needs sweeping?
A strong smoky smell, poor draft, soot falling into the firebox, or it has simply been more than a year. Creosote buildup is a major cause of chimney fires, so it's worth staying ahead of.
Do you keep the area clean?
Yes. We use drop cloths and containment so soot stays in the fireplace, not on your floors or furniture.
